พังแม่บุญแก้วและลูก ไม่ยอมกลับเข้าป่า หากินอยู่ริมป่าด้านนอกซึ่งติดกับไร่ของชาวบ้าน เพื่อป้องกันดูแลความปลอดภัยของทั้งคนและช้าง  เจ้าหน้าที่ภาคสนามมูลนิธิฯ  หน่วยต้นน้ำ จึงคอยเฝ้าดูพังแม่บุญแก้วตลอดเวลา
