วันที่ 10 สิงหาคม 2566 เจ้าหน้าที่ภาคสนามูลนิธิฯ จ.ลำปาง แจ้งว่าพลายสมนึกเป็นลำบอง (อาการบวมน้ำ) บริเวณท้องส่วนล่าง หลังจากพบอาการเจ้าหน้าที่ภาคสนามมูลนิธิฯ ได้เร่งต้มยาสมุนไพรเพื่อรักษาช้าง
