All area around camp 1 (Lampang) is getting dry in this month (April). As around Mae Yao Reservoir is getting dry. So, our field staff (Lampang) moved elephants into thick forest where still plenty of food. เนื่องจากในขณะนี้สภาพป่ารอบอ่างแม่ยาวจังหวัดลำปางแห้งแล้ง เจ้าหน้าที่ภาคสนาม (ลำปาง) จึงพาช้างของมูลนิธิฯ ย้ายเข้าไปในป่าลึก ซื่งยังคงมีความอุดมสมบูรณ์อยู่

Khun Veera Agkaraputthiporn, Khun Bussayada Youngfuangmol agent from Thai Namthip Co.,Ltd. and Khun Phenpak Rattanakhamfu (Black dress), Mayor of Khokga district, Lampang visit an elephant (Pang Sunee) at camp 2 ,Mae Yao Reservoir in Lampang. The elephant was released by Thai Namthip on February 8,2007.

The Foundation is very sadden to learn of Pang Malee's sudden death. She died on April 7, 2007 nearby Mae Yao Reservior (Camp 2) , Lampang. ทางมูลนิธิฯ ได้เสียใจกับจากไปของพังมาลี ณ บริเวณ อ่างเก็บน้ำแม่ยาว จังหวัดลำปาง (แคมป์ 2)โดยพังมาลีได้เสียชีวิตในคืนวันเสาร์ที่ 7 เมษายน 2550 ที่ผ่านมา

Pang Sarah comes to pay respect to the dead body of Pang Malee at camp 2 (Mae Yao Reservoir), Lampang. Elephants, like humans, treat a dead elephant with respect. Pang Nimnuan also came and gently touched the body with her trunk to say farewell. พังซาร่า กำลังโศกเศร้าที่พังมาลีจากไป จึงเดินทางมาเคารพศพที่บริเวณแคมป์ 2 อ่างแม่ยาว จ.ลำปาง

3 Veterinarians from The Elephant Hospital : Mr. Taweepoke Angkawanit, consultant of the Foundation (green vet smock), Mr. Kajohnphat Boonprasert and Mr. Sarun Chansittivej and our field staff are undertaking the necropsy of Pang Malee on Sunday morning (April 8, 2007). Miss Krattiya Khumphet and Miss Naritsara Boontun, 2 training students from Chiangmai University are performing a procedure on Pang Malee's body, and Veterinarian Taweepoke Angkawanit, Consultant of the Foundation is writing notes on the necropsy while our field staff, Mr. Nirut Majai is taking some photos. The Foundation has prepared water source for our elephants and another wildlife animal to use in dry season. สระน้ำที่ทางมูลนิธิฯจัดทำไว้เพื่อให้ช้างในโครงการคืนช้างสู่ธรรมชาติและสัตว์ป่าอื่นๆ ได้ใช้ประโยชน์ในฤดูแล้ง

The new check dam which the foundation planted the vetiver grass on the top sand bag on March 19,2007. Now,the vetiver root is growing downwards and the lengthy root network is stitch the sand bags together. ฝายกั้นน้ำที่ทางมูลนิธิฯ ได้ปลูกหญ้าแฝกเพื่อยึดกระสอบทรายให้ติดกัน ขณะนี้หญ้าแฝกกำลังแตกหน่อเพื่อจะขยายตัวทำให้รากสามารถยึดกระสอบทรายให้ติดกันได้

Queen Sirikit. ภาพแสดงตำแหน่งช้างที่เจ้าหน้าที่ภาคสนาม จังหวัดลำปาง เข้าไปติดตามในพื้นที่เขตรักษาพันธุ์สัตว์ป่าดอยผาเมือง จังหวัดลำปาง ในช่วงเดือนมีนาคม 2550 ซึ่งช้างที่เจ้าหน้าที่ภาคสนามออกติดตามทั้งหมดนั้นเป็นช้างที่สมเด็จพระนางเจ้า ฯ พระบรมราชินีนาถ ได้ทรงทำพิธีปล่อยคืนสู่ธรรมชาติเรียบร้อยแล้ว โดยการติดตามในครั้งนี้ เราพบช้างทั้งหมด 5 ตัว ดังนี้ 1) พังมาลัย และพังบุญมี พบเมื่อวันที่ 18 มีนาคม 2) พังทองใบ และพังบุญมีน่าน พบเมื่อวันที่ 19 มีนาคม และ 3) พังคำมูลใหญ่ พบเมื่อวันที่ 28 มีนาคม

During our field staff are tracking the elephants. They found Pang Thongkham nearby PodHead creek in Doi Pha Muang Wildlife Sanctuary, Lampang on March 28, 2007. She is healthy.

ในการติดตามช้างที่ปล่อยคืนสู่ธรรมชาติ บริเวณเขตรักษาพันธุ์สัตว์ป่าดอยผาเมือง จังหวัดลำปาง เมื่อวันที่ 28 มีนาคม 2550 เจ้าหน้าที่ของเราได้พบกับพังคำมูลใหญ่ ซึ่งอยู่บริเวณห้วยปอดแฮด จากการรายงาน พังคำมูลใหญ่มีสุขภาพดี

Our feild staff bring all potatoes to dry for growth in rainy season. เจ้าหน้าที่ภาคสนาม(ลพบุรี) ช่วยกันนำมันฝรั่งที่บริษัทโดล(ไทยแลนด์)จำกัด มอบให้มาตากผึ่งไว้เพื่อรอที่จะนำไปเพาะปลูกต่อไป

The foundation is prepared 4 plaststic tanks for our field staff to keep water in this coming rainy season. ทางมูลนิธิฯ ได้จัดเตรียมถังน้ำพลาสติกขนาด 2,000 ลิตร จำนวน 4 ใบ ให้เจ้าหน้าที่ภาคสนามเตรียมไว้สำหรับรองน้ำฝนไว้ใช้ในปีต่อไป

Governor of Lopburi and Head of Government Service of Amphor Sonthi visit our project "Elephant Reintroduction Project" at Sublangka Wildlife Sanctuary on April 2,2007. ผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดลพบุรีและหัวหน้าหน่วยราชการในพื้นที่อำเภอลำสนธิ เข้าชมช้างในโครงการคืนช้างสู่ธรรมชาติเขตรักษาพันธุ์สัตว์ป่าซับลังกา

Dole Thailand provides the Foundation with 4 tons of potatoes as planting material. The Foundation plans to engage farmers who grow tapioca in the bordering areas of Sublangka Wildlife Sanctuary to plant potatoes instead to provide a small border area in case the elephants should wander outside. Hopefully the elephants will stop at the open potatoe fields first giving time for our field staff to fetch them before they reach the poisonous (cyanide) tapioca plants. The Foundation plans to compensate the farmers at a better price than what they get from tapioca. These potatoes are from Chiangmai and are from the same stock supplying potatoes to Frito Lay. If the potatoes grow successfully, they can even be supplied to Bangkok supermarkets.

บริษัท โดล(ไทยแลนด์) จำกัด ได้จัดหามันฝรั่งจำนวน 4 ตัน ให้แก่มูลนิธิคืนช้างช้างสู่ธรรมชาติ เพื่อเป็นวัตถุดิบในการปลูก ซึ่งมูลนิธิฯ จะจัดเตรียมพื้นที่บริเวณติดต่อกับเขตรักษาพันธุ์สัตว์ป่าซับลังกา และจ้างชาวไร่ที่ปลูกมันสำปะหลังในบริเวณนั้นมาปลูกมันฝรั่ง โดยมูลนิธิฯ จะให้ผลตอบแทนที่ดีกว่าจากการปลูกมันสำปะหลัง มูลนิธิฯ หวังเป็นอย่างยิ่งว่า ในกรณีที่ช้างเดินออกนอกพื้นที่ ไร่มันฝรั่งที่มูลนิธิฯ ได้จัดเตรียมไว้จะสามารถช่วยหยุดช้างให้อยู่ในพื้นที่เพื่อรอให้เจ้าหน้าที่ภาคสนามของมูลนิธิฯ ได้มีเวลามาต้อนช้างกลับยังเขตรักษาพันธุ์สัตว์ป่าซับลังกา ก่อนที่ช้างจะเข้าไปกินมันสำปะหลังของชาวบ้านที่ปลูกไว้ (มันสำปะหลังดิบจะมีสารพิษประเภทไซยาไนต์ประกอบอยู่ด้วย) มันฝรั่งที่โดลจัดให้ในครั้งนี้ ส่งมาจากเชียงใหม่ซึ่งเป็นแหล่งเดียวกันที่ส่งให้กับโรงงานผลิตมันฝรั่งยี่ห้อ “เลย์ ” และหากการปลูกในครั้งนี้ประสบความสำเร็จเป็นอย่างดี ผลิตผลของมันฝรั่งเหล่านี้ก็สามารถจัดส่งยังแหล่งจำหน่ายในกรุงเทพฯ ต่อไปได้

Hi-Way Co., Ltd. donated 2 motorcycles to Elephant Reintroduction Foundation on March 30, 2007.
