Elephant Sleep/ Elephant as Tool Maker

Pang Deurn has broken a couple of branches of a tree and placed them in a position that they touch her back and face. Then she goes to sleep. It seems that this gives her comfort during her sleep, since she will know if she is losing equilibrium during her standing sleep. The leaves and branches will tickle or scratch her so that she will wake up. This observation came about when I asked the question:"Why did she break the tree at such a height? About 3 meters from the ground." The broken section was lying on the ground but she then wedged it in the Y of the tree trunk and used her trunk near the break to manuever the leafy end to rest on her back. There are two possible non exclusive answers to my question: First, she broke the tree at that height because she needed a branch that was the length of the break to the top of the tree. Two, she broke it at that height so that the tree regenerate and grow well from that point.
