Pang Duh's belly is swelling because of ventral oedema. Ventral oedema is a swelling cause by water (fluid) collecting in the tissues under the skin on the elephant's under surface. It is often found in elephants that eating too many banana tree stalks. Pang Duh was treated by hot compresses. พังดุ เป็น "โรคลำบอง" คือ อาการบวมน้ำ ซึ่งเกิดจากการสะสมของของเหลวในเนื้อเยื่อใต้ผิวหนังช้าง อาการดังกล่าวมิใช่ความผิดปกติของผิวหนัง แต่เป็นความผิดปกติภายในร่างกายที่แสดงออกมาให้เห็นได้จากภายนอก พบได้ในช้างที่กินต้นกล้วยมากเกินไป โดยเจ้าหน้าที่ภาคสนามได้ทำการฟาดยาทุกวัน
