In Thailand the human population this year is 66 million and there are 4000 wild and captive elephants. Since the endangered elephant is one of the closest living species to man, when an elephant dies it is like 16,500 Thai people have died. Just like a great catastrophe as when the gigantic tsunami struck and killed thousands and thousands of people. That's the way I want you to think and feel about it! When one elephant dies, we also die.
ในปีนี้จำนวนประชากรในประเทศไทย มี 66 ล้านคน ส่วนจำนวนช้างทั้งประเทศทั้งช้างป่าและช้างเลี้ยง มีประมาณ 4,000 ตัว นับตั้งแต่ช้างที่เป็นสัตว์ที่มีความใกล้ชิดกับความเป็นอยู่ของมนุษย์ใกล้สูญพันธุ์ ดูเหมือนว่า ถ้าช้าง 1 ตัวล้ม(ตาย) จะมีคนไทยจำนวน 16,500 เสียชีวิตด้วยเช่นกัน ดังเหตุการณ์มหันตภัยสึนามิ ที่คร่าชีวิตคนไปเป็นพันพันคน ซึ่งเราทุกคนควรตระหนักให้ดีว่า เมื่อช้าง 1 ตัวล้ม ก็จะกระทบต่อชีวิตเราด้วยเช่นกัน
