วันที่ 12 สิงหาคม 2566 น.สพ.ดร.ทวีโภค อังควานิช กรรมการมูลนิธิคืนช้างสู่ธรรมชาติ เข้าตรวจดูอาการของพลายสมนึกหลังพบว่าเป็นลำบองมาเเล้วหลายวัน หลังได้รับการรักษาสมนึกมีอาการที่ดีขึ้น โดยเจ้าหน้าที่ภาคสนามมูลนิธิฯ ได้ดูแลอย่างใกล้ชิดโดยมีการใช้ยาประคบร่วมด้วย
ยาต้มสมุนไพรใช้สำหรับฟาดประคบแผลช้างที่เป็นลำบองประกอบด้วยเปลือกต้นประดู่ เถาวัลย์ไมยราบ ต้นโด่ไม่รู้ล้ม พริก เกลือ เนื่องจากพลายสมนึกมีแผลด้วย จึงต้องได้รับการรักษาแบบแผนปัจจุบันร่วมด้วย โดยเจ้าหน้าที่ได้ล้างแผลให้อย่างสม่ำเสมอ

Herbal decoction used for compressing abscess wounds of elephants that are consisting of padauk bark, mimosa vine, Ton Do Mai Rua Loom, chili, salt. Because Plai Somnuek also had a wound therefore, The staff has cleaned the wounds regularly.

วันที่ 12 สิงหาคม 2566 เวลา 01:00 น ได้รับแจ้งจากชาวบ้านว่า พบช้างบริเวณตาดหลวง ห้วยแม่สะปวด หลังจากได้รับแจ้งเจ้าหน้าที่ภาคสนามมูลนิธิฯ ได้เร่งเข้าตรวจสอบพื้นที่ และอยู่เฝ้าระวังช้างบริเวณสวนลำไยของชาวบ้าน รอจนสว่างจึงได้ขี่มอเตอร์ไซค์ขึ้นไปตามห้วยแม่สะป้วดและได้พบช้างกลุ่มพังดอกรัก พังทับเสลา พังกันยา พังดารา พังลดา และพังลิซ่าอยู่บริเวณห้วยไคร้

วันที่ 10 สิงหาคม 2566 เจ้าหน้าที่ภาคสนามูลนิธิฯ จ.ลำปาง แจ้งว่าพลายสมนึกเป็นลำบอง (อาการบวมน้ำ) บริเวณท้องส่วนล่าง หลังจากพบอาการเจ้าหน้าที่ภาคสนามมูลนิธิฯ ได้เร่งต้มยาสมุนไพรเพื่อรักษาช้าง
