Since 2006, Pang Gonthong was released and lived with Pang Saithong in Doi Phamaung Forest. When Pang Saithong passed away, Pang Gonthong lived alone in the forest and lately she seldom went to field staff's camp. Our fields staff worried about that because of her old age and her digestive system ( she became thin and her dungs were coarse) so, they let her rehabilitated close to the camp. Finally Pang Gonthong passed away when she came to drink some water in Maepon Reservoir.
พังก้อนทอง ช้างของมูลนิธิฯ ที่ปล่อยให้ใช้ชีวิตในป่าดอยผาเมือง ร่วมกับพังสายทอง ตั้งแต่เมื่อปี 2549 แต่เมื่อพังสายทองล้มจากไป หลังจากนั้นพังก้อนทองได้หนีออกจากป่ามายังแคมป์ของเจ้าหน้าที่อยู่หลายครั้ง จนทางมูลนิธิฯ ต้องผูกปรับพฤติกรรมไว้ เพื่อดูอาการ เนื่องจากพังก้อนทองได้ชราภาพ ร่างกายผอม และมีมูลหยาบเนื่องจาก ระบบการเคี้ยวทำงานไ้ด้ไม่ดี จนพังก้อนทองได้ล้มจากไปขณะที่ลงไปกินน้ำอยู่ในอ่างแม่ป๋อน
